Exotic Nail Art making waves this Season

No doubt the french manicure is timeless and certainly here to stay - it creates the illusion of effortless beauty, it's classic and has been around since the glamorous era, the 20's. Though, whether the french manicure is actually French or not is still very debatable. I can see why so many women still walk into a nail salon and request to have a french manicure done - it's safe, oozes with sophistication and perfect for any occasion. Heck, I just sold ME a french manicure! Thing is, I don't do safe.

Look at these for instance, how cool are those!!?

Multicolored nail art is SO rocking it this Summer! Can't wait to get mine done :) Just Google search Neon nail art and you'll find hordes of tutorials on how to create these beauties.
there is however one particular theme that's making waves this Summer and sailed away with my attention, which I will call...let's say...My Ultimate Summer fave!

Bold and Beautiful YOU!

I don't know about you, but I'm super ready for Spring/Summer 2012 to begin already!! For starters I'd like to get out of these layers and layers of Winter clothing and show off my post-pregnancy bod in some glam one-piece swimsuit, because let's face it, two piece bikinis are so last-couple-of-fashion-shows ago! But more about gorgeous swim wear a bit later...
Right now I am madly, deeply in love with the new make-up trends going around! I mean, have you like seen that chick's eyebrows???
From Glitter, to bright Neon to feathers and sequins and crazy drawings...I could not believe my EYES!! Where they were first and not so long ago only considered 'appropriate' for on-screen performances, catwalks or special occasions, they are now perfectly suitable for a weekend trip to the beach (which to me is a special occasion by the way!)
If Summer 2011 was all about natural glowing skin, then Summer 2012 has stepped it up and added to that some BRIGHT, FUN and FEARLESS make-up trends!! here are only a few of my faves...

Love it much??? Well, I'm not sure how daring you are prepared to be, but I'll assume pretty daring...so how about jazzing up your hair-do too!! See what I've found...

 Love love love it!!! :-)

Hope to see you around all Bold and colorfully beautiful!!

Marilyn Monroe: Most notorious style Icon of all time!

It’s been 50 years this week since her tragic and widely controversial death on August  5 1962, and fabMom thought it only necessary to do a little "tribute" write-up about History's most notorious fashion butterfly. That said; I am not going to give you a history lesson on the life and death of Marilyn Monroe, in fact if you do a little search, with very little effort, you’ll find all there is to know about her. However as a fashion blogger it was only a matter of time before I was going to mention our beloved Ms Monroe…after all, the fashion and beauty world would certainly miss a huge chunk in the pie if not for the legacy Marilyn left behind. So for that I commend the only woman I know, able to make a flying dress look so sexy. May we continue to ‘pout our lips’ in appreciation of her large contribution to the industry.
True, she may not have been the most talented actress of her time, yet her movies made millions. She may not have been the luckiest in love, but she dated of the world’s most famous men and even went on to marry some of them. Neither did she have a pleasant upbringing, but Marilyn Monroe rose above all that and with her electrifying confidence, sexy wit and incredible beauty, became the world’s most loved style-icon. And today, half a century after her death, she is still considered the very core of beauty personified.
So, In remembrance I've selected some of my fave Monroe pics...

"To all the girls that think you're fat because you're not a size zero, you're the beautiful one. It's society that's ugly." - Marilyn Monroe

Embracing local Street fashion

Before, being street smart meant you could easily navigate, negotiate and sometimes fight your way out of dodgy situations in some dodgy area around Cape Town. These days it means being dressed to the T and when I say dressed to the T, I mean dressed. to. the. T.

As I was going through some local street trends on the net, one guy and his brand in particular, caught my attention. Did I mention how much I love bold and colorful pieces, well not only did his collection exude that, but the message Craig and his 'crew' was aiming to get across and the amount of selfless effort they were putting in to give back to our less fortunate communities sucker-punched me right in the gut! Here I've found a brand, still very much in the developing phase, worth supporting - and once again, after also learning we've now earned 3 Olympic gold medals, I was proud to be a South African.

Based in Johannesburg Craig Scheepers launched his fashion label Awe early in 2011, starting with only 25 T-shirts. Not quite sure how the public would receive his ideas, he set out to test the waters. As can very well be expected, interest grew and with his aim to reach out to the less fortunate, so did AWE and today you can get anything from caps to hoodies to sunglasses in the range exclusively sold at Soul Candi in Jozi. Go to the AWE website and learn more about this successful designer and his patriotism to the community.
“Awe is here to empower our neighborhoods and give back to the less fortunate.  By purchasing an Awe item you donate 10% to a nominated charity. “- Craig Scheepers
