Olympics Fashion? or Fashion Olympics?

We're just not sure what to call it anymore, but whatever it is, it's got beautiful clothes, made by world famous designers, fitted to perfectly sculpted bods and that may be all we need to know!! Yum!!
So, once again, what a proud moment for South Africa! With our boy Cameron Van der Burgh winning the 100m breaststroke gold medal and setting a new world record we'll certainly still be mentioning it for a while, so well done lad!
But as much as we love those abs! We're in the fashion business, so we'll shift our focus over there for just a tad...
Whether it’s the union jack, stars and stripes, green and gold, track pants or designer jewelry, the 2012 Olympics has started off BOLDLY as designers opted to paint the town NEON! I'm not sure whether they read my blog, reckoned our 'fun, fearless fashion' idea is kinda catchy and decided to run with it, but I can't remember seeing an Olympic game or any other games for that matter being so bold and colorful in fashion ( and in sport!) which is exactly why this FabMom has taken such a keen interest.
If fun and fearless was what we were looking for, fun and fearless is what we got!
Found some WINNING Olympic wear on this site
You'll luuuurve them. We do!! so be sure to check it out, be inspired and post yours truly some snaps of yourself in your fave Olympic fashions and you can be sure to be the new hot topic of my next blog post!

Enjoy the Games!

Cameron's journey to Gold

Cameron's journey to Gold: Cameron Van der Burgh talks about winning a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics in the men's 100m breaststroke.

Such a proud moment! Not only for every South African, but for Cameron and his family. We wish CVDB every success in his career and salute him for doing it with such humility...

Fashion Shoot - Our Winter must-haves

What a bag load of fun it was planning this shoot! with the help from my model and fabulous mom, Olivia, and her keen eye for fashion along with Photofuzion Photographer Lesley for making it all come to life in all its fun, colorful, glamorous glory! The outcome is nothing less than AMAZING!!!
When I started this blog it had to scream FUN and dare readers to be FEARLESS when going through their wardrobe or rampaging the stores. So when we picked out these outfits, that’s exactly what we were going for. As Olivia and I started putting them together, there were SO many ideas going back and forth, that should we have used them all there would not be enough time and it would have been impossible to wrap up the shoot in the 4 hours we had in studio. So we did what most successful people do and kept it short and sweet? Heck no!! We kept it fun, daring and to the point! We hope these images inspire you as much as it did us. But first, proving beauty is best worn when accompanied by a good head on your shoulders, is fashionista, career woman and Songbird...

Born in a little town called Vredenburg off the West Coast of the Cape Peninsula South Africa; 28 year old Olivia Brooks, devout wife to Reginald and mom to Matthew 2 now resides in bustling Cape Town where she manages at a large international call Centre. Olivia Loves to Love, Network and keep up with the latest fashion trends and Besides her beauty and bubbly personality with its attractive ability, what most don't know is that she's also a local singing sensation and has wowed many at karaoke and similar competitions. If money were no object a Mansion at the beach; Walk in closet and a visit to Paris would be first on her list of Must-haves.

Besides being sure to see the world's most talented athletes all under one 'flag', they will also be wearing designs made especially for them by some of the world's most recognized designers for whom the games have become the new runway and playground.

Be sure to tune into the 2012 Olympic games opening ceremony and get a front row seat as athletes will be sporting designs by the likes of Giorgio Armani, Prada, Stella McCartney, Hermes, and Ralph Lauren hoping to reach a new audience.

From Engineer to aspiring fashion designer

During a recent lunch date with my girlfriend, while sipping on my cappuccino, I curiously asked her why she'd suddenly decided to become a stay-home mom to Luke (now 7 months), after climbing the corporate ladder faster than I can say 'success' and her response astounded me – turns out she left her career as successful Engineer at one of SA's largest power plants to pursue her passion as Fashion designer! Yes, you read correctly. Now I've heard of many an engineer leaving their current employer and venture off on their own, but FASHION?! Never!
Lynn
As a fashion blogger, more importantly a fashion MOM blogger, her story immediately intrigued me and as a blogger who thrives on all things ‘unusual’ it fascinated me so much more! I wanted to know what makes a qualified and highly skilled Electrical Engineer suddenly go from machines to frills. So while diving into my high-calorie steak roll and Lynn into her very healthy salad, she went on to explain that although her son might be the most important reason she bid farewell to the hustle and bustle of corporate SA and weekly business flights to Joburg, the more important reason was that her job could no longer satisfy her emotionally. She knew there was something amiss - here they were- this beautiful little family, loving husband, adorable son, a beautiful home in the most beautiful city in the world and a career some can only dream of, yet something was still missing. Lynn knew she had to listen to her heart and follow her passion and so that was exactly what she did and we at FabMom salute her for taking such a bold step and making family and fashion her focus! We’ll keep cheering Lynn on from the front row until her designs, someday, comes marching down the runway!

Spread your wings and prepare to fly...because you can be a mom and fashionable too!

‘Ola fellow fashion-loving bloggers, blog readers and fabulous moms! Even if, or especially if, you’re not so much into the crazy, unorthodox trends filling our streets lately (like myself) - this blog is just the antidote you may need to recovery from the 'dull syndrome' we all,at one point or another, fall victim to. And it is here that you will be weaned from out of your cocoon and evolve into the beautiful, radiant butterfly you once were and were meant to become! Just because you are a mother now, does not mean you can no longer have fun with your wardrobe. I know your priorities has shifted, mine has too, I'm now a mom of not one not two but three kids and sure I would move a mountain for them any day of the week, but that does not mean I have to forget about all about myself. We are women first and a happy woman is a happy wife is a happy mom. So let's throw caution to the wind and forget about playing it safe (in fashion that is!), take out that dumb old t-shirt from the back of your closet and give it a new shine by pairing it with a few of your gorgeous new items, accessories and personality. A very wise woman once said " I don't know how a women can leave the house without fixing herself up a little. If only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And its best to be as pretty as possible for destiny." - Coco Chanel
